Much natural beauty surrounds these areas. A quick and comfortable flight (45 min) takes you to the second segment of your journey: Akureyri, affectionately known as the "Capital of the North." There you will see a more "intimate" side of the country, less frequently reached by tourist crowds. Enjoy your arrival day Sightseeing around town, stop by local art shops and admire the beauty of the northern Icelandic craftsmanship (perhaps even meet and talk to the artists). The next day is certainly a highlight, as you visit the region of Mývatn - an amazing journey through an area of extreme contrasts, bird life, flora, geology, and saga. Visit actual Game of Thrones shooting sights and see why Iceland has been the inspiration to so many intriguing stories. At the end of the tour, you will relax in the natural Mývatn Nature Baths, surrounded by the overwhelmingly panoramic view (admission is included in this package).
